Before bringing in your pre-packed goods
to our nearest export warehouse, please print the following information
on each item: (A) your SEFCO/LCL booking number (or other control number assigned by the selected carrier or our office), (B) your name & USA address (FROM:), (C) your overseas address (TO:), and (D) the number you assign to each item (eg., carton #1 of x, # 2 of x, and so on) |
You should send SEFCO a copy of your general "packing list" via e-mail, fax# 718-268-0505 or other suitable means. See our online examples for creating your packing list.

We will give you your "booking/control number" before you bring in your goods.It is "ok" for you to bring in your pbo/packed-by-owner goods yourself, provided the goods are sturdily pre-packed and secured. LCL-less than container-load shipments (by sea) are often best shipped when packed into a crate or loaded onto pallets. If not properly packed for export your cargo may need to be routed first to one of our Sefco Export-approved packing warehouses, for export preparation.
More and better export packaging is always better than less, poor packaging. For LCL shipments including furniture, we recommend using lift-vans. See photos: [1] [2] [3]
Going via AIR? Packing your own cargo?
#1 - Nothing hazardous can be accepted. Hazardous cargo requires the intervention of a "HAZMAT" specialist and the costs/procedures involved are certainly more than sending non-hazardous cargo. What is hazardous? Flammable paint, aerosol spray cans, gasoline, corrosive acids, fireworks...

SHIPPERS ADVICE: "Whenever you ship anything that isn’t a full container the name and address of the consignee should be on the box / crate or whatever kind of packaging is used. Without this there is no way to identify the freight. The air waybill would go with the crate, but it should be marked separately with the name and address of the consignee."Everything is re-measured when it comes into the warehouse, to confirm total actual cubic footage volume being shipped.
Pickup-trucking of prepacked and readily accessible goods can be easily scheduled. We can arrange either a "straight trucking" pickup, or a pickup using professional movers: men and materials where needed.
If you do not prepack your goods yourself, and if you need professional packers/movers to help you with the pickup, our Sefco-approved export packers will call you to schedule and confirm the pickup date and time. Our export packers/movers need further advance notice for scheduling a packing/pickup date, vs. pickup ("straight trucking" only/no labor) by our common carrier truckers.
Consider renting a "Penske" truck if self-delivering your pbo/export packed cargo. "Raw" unpacked cargo will not be received by our export terminals. If it needs to be packed, you need to take care of this beforehand - or route your raw furniture via our designated O/A-origin packing warehouse - where our professional movers can pack it suitably for overseas/export shipping.
