Complex & Non-standard Shipments
Some new requests may be for projects
that are more involved than standard US Exports.

We can respond to such requests by providing either

   (1) a free estimate subject to formal confirmations, or

   (2) for our pre-existing or newly retained customers
      We can provide a formal ocean carrier confirmation
      for cargo that is ready for shipment within @ 30 days.

SS Line rates are valid for a limited time - often up to 30 days only. Cargo that is to be shipped further in the future must have the freight rate reconfirmed at the time the cargo is booked for shipment with the ocean carrier. Export/Import customs clearing agent cost confirmations are similarly valid for a limited time and can be subject to currency fluctuations and market demand.



Free Estimates

For new requests of a complex nature - we can generate an export/import rate estimate and send this info to you by email with useful links and guidance - for the convenience of our prospective/new customer. But the cargo must be real and ready to go in the near future.

Our free estimate - informed by our years of experience and based on the most recent carrier pricing - is provided without charge as a courtesy to new prospective customers. Estimates for cargo shipments beyond 30 days are not a binding contract/offer and are for informational purposes only. Requests for Ex/Im project pricing support for anything to happen a year or more in the future will not be accommodated without a retainer for service.

Some export/import projects are complex, such as US imports, 3rd country to 3rd country movements, arranging for specialized local services at origin/destination (inspections, export packaging for high value cargo, customs document review, in-bond movements, etc.)
Most ocean carriers are industrial organizations working on a company to company basis and do not have processes in place to deal with private persons directly. Many ocean carriers/clearing agents will only work with a known company like ours, a US Government licensed Freight Forwarder in existence for several decades. In turn, we act on the behalf of our individual customer providing personalized attention.
Preparing complex moves...
...including Export/Import clearances for a non-repeat, non-commercial shipment of cargo (such as a single POV privately owned vehicle) - is one of our strengths. This is often a time consuming process.
Please know that our Customer Service Support Team - including work by our network of overseas clearing agents, is only available to help Sefco customers.


Our Export-Import Account Support includes
    Advance Review of:   Documents (titles, transit docs, other), your Travel Itinerary & SS Line Sailing Schedules, any special handling or local requirements at Origin/Destination
    Our minimum retainer for Ex/Im Support Service is $ 125.00
    Spending $ 125 in advance of making any carrier booking, for expert review, can help you save money in the long run. Our initial retainer normally allows for up to 1-hr staff review, research and advice. This nominal retainer makes you a Sefco customer. We reciprocate and often go above and beyond the call of duty to look after the best interests of our customers.

  • We secure specific origin & destination customs agent/stevedore/facility confirmations for the current cost of any local service on both ends (customs clearance formalities, inland pickup/delivery, SIT storage, any other local services required for the project). Time sensitive rates can change due to currency ROE rate of exchange fluctuation and other market conditions.
  • We research and confirm cargo-specific export/import ocean carrier rates including any local port surcharges. In some trade lanes a spot rate will be generated by the ocean/air carrier for the proposed cargo, valid for a very limited time and subject to filing. Ocean & Airfreight Rates are time sensitive and must be reviewed if being handled thereafter.

(A)   A small retainer ( USD 125 )
          To initiate and open your new Sefco account.

(B)   Specific information is needed including the contact details of the exporting merchant (seller/company name or individual), local Tax ID number or Individual Passport ID, the physical location of the cargo at origin, when the cargo will be ready for export, and where available, a copy of any ownership documents, title/registration/bill of sale for review, manufacturers specification sheet with measurements, and in some cases, photos of the actual cargo.
