...top priority is and always has been the safety of the crew and the vessel as well as others who work on the ship. With that in mind effective Monday February 3, 2020 new rules will be in effect. Please see below for details. Policy will be in effect at all load ports and we cannot allow any exceptions to these rules.
Ro/Ro shipments
RECEIVING POLICY EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 3, 2020
Due to an increase of fires that have occurred from POV units, Grimaldi are taking additional safety precautions to protect the crew, vessel, and cargo. Going forth all POV units received must be able to have their hoods open. After unit is loaded on vessel, Grimaldi reserve the right to disconnect batteries on all POVs. Prior to discharge in West Africa, batteries will be reconnected.
Please be reminded that all units delivered must have battery that is accessible to terminal personnel so that it may be disconnected while on board. Receiving procedures in Dundalk are strictly enforced and we can make no exceptions. Any unit where hood cannot be opened or battery is under a seat or in the trunk where terminal personnel can’t access will be rejected.
Hybrids/Electric/LNG Units
"All hybrids and electric units must be rejected as Grimaldi will not load hybrids and electric units onto the vessel. Liquified natural gas (LNG), liquified petroleum gas (LPG), and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) units must be rejected as Grimaldi will not load these units onto the vessel." (2021)

- INSTALLED BATTERIES ARE PROPERLY PROTECTED FROM SHORT CIRCUIT / NEGATIVE POLE COVERED BY PLASTIC CAP BEING THE ONLY MEANS ALLOWED
- WINDOWS ARE PARTLY OPENED TO ALLOW AIR CIRCULATION
UPLOAD OF PHOTOS IS REQUIRED SHOWING VIN#, BATTERY DISCONNECTED; NEGATIVE POLE PROTECTED BY PLASTIC CAPS , NEGATIVE CABLE PROTECTED BY INSULATING TAPE AND TANK EMPTY SHOWING LIGHT ON"
