We can respond to such requests by providing either

   (1) a free estimate subject to formal confirmations, or

   (2) for our retained accounts / known repeat customers

      We can work on obtaining

      including agent feedback for specific cargo
      that is ready for shipment within @ 30 days.



Free Estimates

For requests for a basic nature (seaport/seaport), we can generate an export/import rate estimate and send this info to you by email. Retained accounts can get a username and password, to access additional information -useful links to any related guidance- for the benefit of our customer (yourself).

Our estimate - informed by our years of experience and based on the most recent carrier pricing on record. Estimates are not a binding contract/offer and are for informational purposes only.

Formal Quotes - are assigned a Sefco Export Reference Number (begining EX-12345678)
This signifies that it is Ocean Carrier Confirmed and valid for the currently specified time-frame. Most carrier confirmations are valid for up to 30 days and must be reconfirmed at time of booking.

Services for your Export/Import project

Some export/import projects are complex, such as US imports, 3rd country to 3rd country movements, arranging for specialized local services at origin/destination (inspections, customs document review, in-bond movements, export packaging for high value cargo, etc.).
Most ocean carriers are industrial organizations working on a company to company basis and do not have processes in place to deal with private persons directly.
Many ocean carriers/clearing agents and professional logistics providers will only work with a company like ours, a licensed Freight Forwarder. In turn, we act on the behalf of our customer:
the BCO (beneficial cargo owner), the Shipper and/or Consignee, the ordering party, providing careful attention. The movement of cargo internationally can be a complex endeavor. Experience is required.
Preparing and managing complex moves
Project cargo (HHE - High & Heavy equipment), Export customs clearances for repeat and non-repeat shipments of cargo - is one of our strengths. We provide support for what can be a complicated and time consuming process.
Please know that our Export/Import Support Team - providing dedicated time and effort - are available to help retained Sefco Export customers.


Our Export-Import Account Support includes
    Advance Review of:
    Documents (titles, transit docs, other), Itinerary & Schedules,
    any Special Handling or Local Requirements at Origin/Destination
    Spending $ 125 in advance of making any carrier booking, for expert review, can help you save money in the long run. Our nominal initial retainer allows for up to 1-hr staff review, research and advice.
  • Securing specific origin & destination customs agent/stevedore/facility confirmations for the current cost of any local service on both ends (customs clearance formalities, pickup/delivery, SIT storage, any other local services required for the project). Time sensitive rates can change due to currency ROE rate of exchange fluctuation and other market conditions.
  • Obtaining specific carrier confirmed rates including any surcharges. Rates are time sensitive. In some trade lanes a spot rate will be generated by the ocean/air carrier for the proposed cargo, valid for a limited time and subject to filing or NRA negotiated rate agreement.
Validity of Rates
Ocean carrier and origin/destination clearing agent rates are typically valid up to 30 days. Rates are subject to carrier review and re-validation if being handled thereafter.

The cost for Project Management of any local/origin services (beyond port to port ocean freight forwarding; assigning dedicated staff to arrange labor/special local services) is USD 500.00 minimum plus provider cost and is subject to our formal quote/offer, made on a case by case basis.

for your particular project, we will require:

(A)   A small retainer ( USD 125 )
          To initiate and open your new Sefco account.

(B)   Specific information including the contact details of the exporting merchant (seller/company name or individual), the physical location of the cargo at origin, when the cargo will be ready for export, and where available, a copy of any ownership documents, title/registration/bill of sale for review, manufacturers specification sheet with measurements, and photos of the actual cargo.
